I’m Beth Smith, and if you live in this area of Reno, I represent you on the school board. I won election to this seat in 2022. Because I filled a vacancy on the board, this seat will be up for election again in 2024. I hope you’ll take a moment to learn more about me, sign up for updates, engage with me on social media, or contact me—I’d love to hear your thoughts, questions, or ideas about how we can improve our schools together as a community.

Get in Touch

I want to hear from you. Do you have any questions or concerns about our school district? Is your kid’s teacher doing an amazing job? I’d love to hear it all—the good, the challenges, and anything else you’d like to share.

Support My Campaign

Please help me continue to represent our district and provide leadership that engages, listens, and cares for our community. Your contribution helps me reach all the voters in our district, and your support means the world to me.

A helicopter! Fire trucks! Motorcycles! It’s Heroes Day at Echo Loder Elementary School! Each year students thank and learn from the incredible first responders and protectors of our community. Building connections between kids and service people sparks interest in our next generation of heroes. A very special thank you to Loder teacher Tanya Coleman for making this amazing event happen each year!

Today is the day we dreamed about and fought for. The Washoe County School District and Washoe Education Association reached a tentative agreement resulting in a 20% cost of living increase over two years. This landmark agreement demonstrates what can be done when everyone works together to advance high quality public education and invest in our greatest resource—our children. I am so proud to be a part of this moment in our history.

The tentative agreement will need to be approved by both the union and the Board of Trustees before it is final.

Our nation is great thanks in part to the strength of American laborers and workers. Thank you to the women, men, and people who proudly build and serve our country. Happy Labor Day!
